Idan Zareski
Idan Zareski (b. 1968, Haifa, Israel) is a French-Israeli sculptor whose work has gained international recognition for its emotive power, vibrant forms, and universal message of unity and human connection. Growing up immersed in multiple cultures across Africa, Europe, the United States, and Latin America, Zareski’s worldly upbringing deeply informs his artistic vision and the themes that animate his practice. He lives and works between France, Miami, and Costa Rica, bringing a global sensibility to his sculptural language.
A self-taught artist, Zareski did not follow a formal art education; instead, he relies on instinct, emotion, and lived experience as the guiding forces in his creative process, often shaping his works rapidly and intuitively without preliminary sketches. His breakthrough came with the Bigfoot Family project—an iconic series of monumental, figurative sculptures characterized by oversized feet that symbolize our shared roots and collective bond to the Earth. With figures such as Bigfoot, Babyfoot, Ladyfoot, La Nena, and Le Siffleur, Zareski evokes both individuality and kinship, inviting viewers to reflect on cultural diversity, empathy, and a connected humanity.
Zareski’s sculptures are crafted from materials such as resin and bronze, and are distinguished by their expressive postures, vivid colors, and palpable emotional presence. His instinctive, almost trance-like approach to creation gives each piece a sense of immediacy and grace, conveying a peaceful call for unity without words.
